COSRX Snail 96 Mucin vs SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Ampoule

By GlowReaJo Team·May 12, 2026

Two Different Heroes, Same Goal

Both are leave-on treatments that strengthen the skin barrier, fade marks over time, and add a quiet glow. They achieve it via completely different routes.

COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence

  • Hero ingredient: 96% snail secretion filtrate.
  • What it does: Hydrates deeply, fades post-acne marks, smooths texture, supports wound repair.
  • Texture: Slightly slippery, almost gel-like, takes a moment to absorb.
  • Skin type fit: All types, but especially loved by dry, dehydrated, or post-irritation skin.
  • Frequency: Twice daily after toner.

SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Ampoule

  • Hero ingredient: 100% Madagascar centella asiatica extract.
  • What it does: Calms inflammation, reduces redness, supports barrier, speeds up healing of irritated skin.
  • Texture: Watery serum, absorbs quickly.
  • Skin type fit: Sensitive, reactive, acne-prone, post-procedure.
  • Frequency: Once or twice daily after toner.

How Each One Works

Snail mucin contains glycoproteins, hyaluronic acid, and growth factors that the snail produces to repair its own body. On human skin, it acts as a humectant and supports cell turnover.

Centella asiatica contains four key compounds (asiaticoside, madecassoside, asiatic acid, madecassic acid) that are anti-inflammatory and pro-healing. It's been used in Korean dermatology long before K-beauty became a global trend.

What You'll Feel

COSRX feels nourishing. There's a slight bouncy slip when you press it in, and the skin looks plumper by the third application.

SKIN1004 feels invisible. The serum disappears into the skin and the calming effect shows up over the day rather than immediately.

Pick COSRX If You Want To...

  • Fade old post-acne marks.
  • Recover from dehydration or overuse of actives.
  • Smooth bumpy or rough texture.
  • Add hydration before a heavier moisturizer.

Pick SKIN1004 If You Want To...

  • Calm active redness or rosacea-prone skin.
  • Soothe acne breakouts that won't quiet down.
  • Repair after a derm procedure or retinol over-use.
  • Have a serum that absorbs fast and lets you keep moving.

What About Both?

Yes, you can. SKIN1004 first because it's watery, then COSRX on top. The order matters because of texture, not chemistry.

Long-Term Honest Note

Neither product creates dramatic before-and-after transformations in two weeks. They're both maintenance heroes. Used daily for three months, both visibly improve skin texture and resilience. Expect quiet, consistent improvement, not a magic fix.
